IXAberdeen

Following discussions with LINX and brightsolid, Converged are looking to measure interest in the creation of a peering point / Internet exchange within Aberdeen. The goal is to cut through the latency (time taken for information to get from A to B) for companies in Aberdeen and the North of Scotland.

Background

When data is transferred between two companies, it generally goes via the nearest point where their corresponding ISP (Internet Service Providers) connect to one another. Typically in the UK this has historically been London, with the introduction of IXscotland in Edinburgh from LINX helping further. But, could we move that exchange even closer?
